Bengaluru: Deve Gowda challenges Siddaramaiah for debate on development

Bengaluru, Dec 31: Former Prime Minister, G D Deve Gowda, has challenged chief minister, Siddaramaiah for an open one-to-one debate on the issue of development.

"Siddaramaiah has claimed that when I was the chief minister, no people-friendly schemes had been framed. I challenge him to agree for an open debate about what has been achieved during Siddaramaiah's four-year rule," he said.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday December 30, Gowda asked Siddaramaiah to excercise restraint on his words. "I too know how to talk. There is a limit for my patience. If my patience withers, the after-affects would be totally unexpected," he warned.

Deve Gowda wanted to know from Siddaramaiah, who was the finance minister under him when he was the chief minister, whether he had forgotten that loan had been raised from Peerless Finance for financing irrigation projects of the government.

    Why does former PM Deve Gowda ask the same question to BJP about 'development' which they have promised to the nation during 2014 Lok Sabha elections?
    Since Mr. Gowda raised the question what is letter 'S' stands for the party, when they had coalition with BJP in Karnataka which paved the way for parties emergency to power?

    Lastly, If there is hung assembly which party JD(S) would like to support in Karnataka as 'Secular' attached to the party name?

    Because JDS and BJP are planning to play 20-20 again like the way they did in 2005-06.

    Siddu led INC had delivered tangible results and their policies are pro-people and pro-poor.

    1. He has provided food security to the poorer section of society with schemes like low-cost canteens helping daily wage people have nutritious food and food schemes for govt school kids, pregnant women.Helping fight malnutrition.
    2. His investor meet idea with a platform like Invest Karnataka helped the state attract investment of over 1.4lakh crore from past two years while other states have never ever crossed investment of 1lakh crores.
    3.Investment made in all parts of the state has helped improve infrastructure.
    4. States growth rate is high, the unemployment rate is lowest in comparison to rest of states as of 2017.
    5.Karnataka has world's biggest drip irrigation system in Bagalkot district. Govt gives 90% subsidy. Other schemes like sheet ponds, nursery, etc have helped the farmer get a subsidy.
    6. Agriculture infrastructure has seen great development with him introducing online marketing cell at APMC making it first of country. These E cells help farmer sell his produce without a middleman and at his desired rate.This attracted the attention of other states to implement this system.

    Shetre you should go to Bihar or UP and stay there for at least a month and you will know what bliss it's to live in Karnataka.

    After BJP and JD (S) brought down the fortunes and name of Karnataka, the present govt led by Siddharamaiah has brought much needed relief and stablity to the State. BJP had 3 CMs and 2 Deputy CMs in 5 years and prior to that BJP-JD(S) 20-20 governance took toll on State's fortunes. But now we have a stable, pro-people and pro-poor govt. All the naysayers who said Siddu's govt will fall down in 1 year or 2 years are in coma as Siddharamaiah has become the longest serving CM of Karnataka after Devraj Urs. BJP and JD (S) knowing their imminent defeat are again trying to forge 20-20. But we shall allow this again. We want stabilitya and strong leadership which presently can only be expected in Siddharamaiah in Karnataka. Just before 2 weeks, HDD was all praise for Siddharamaiah and now after he met Piyush Goyal, he's unhappy with Siddhu. Forget Dodda Gowda. This time no political games of yours will work.

    I never said Yeddi or Ishwarappa as the best, even if BJP comes to power Yeddi will not be CM.
    Even though I am a Congress supporter, Siddu has literally divided our Karnataka in the name of caste based instigation and minority appeasement. This is the dirty and dangerous strategy Siddu has done. Better late than never he should go home!!

    Weakness of Congress at National level has made him longest serving CM. It is not his personal achievements as Congress high command could not risk him being replaced. That's why kharge was sent to center, many more able leader's are in cabinet who are much capable of delivering as CM of Karnataka.

    Do not want to waste time writing on Appa Maga as their double game is an open secret.

    The demand for separate Lingayat religion is not new neither it originated during Siddhu's time. In fact during Yeddy’s term a representation was made to him by Lingayat leaders and a letter demanding separate religion was submitted to UPA government. This letter was signed by Yeddy himself along with 3 ministers of his cabinet. Lingayat community intensified their demand again and CM said that if the community makes a representation to him, he will forward their request to the Central govt since it's the Central govt which has to take decision on carving out a religion. So where's the fault by CM? Caste division will go on not just in State but all over India till castes exist. The day castes vanish, use of castes for political gains too will stop.

    See the industrial, agricultural and human index growth of our state under this govt and you will know why Siddhu enjoys this free hand of Congress high command. Who do you think is better than Siddhu to lead Congress in Karnataka? Does anyone else have pan-Karnataka appeal and mass following other than Siddhu? Kharge comes distant second with DKS in third perhaps. So whatever drama from BJP, JDS cannot change the outcome of the election. Those who want to become CM will have to wait till 2023 because till then it’s going to be Siddhu for sure.

    And what minority appeasement you talk about? What is the percentage of Minorities in Karnataka that he would appease them and get back to power? Even if all the minorities in Karnataka vote for Congress, they cannot win more than 22-25 seats. Minority vote bank is a myth. In actual the vote bank is the Majority community who are 80% of the populace. Out of the 224 Assembly seats, Minority votes can make difference only in 11 seats. That's the voting capacity of Minorities. Whereas in remaining 213 seats, it's the Majority community which is vote bank. So stop blaming Minorities for our own problems.
