Mangalore, Jul 18: Later briefing the media persons at the airport on behalf of United Karnataka Associations, Pascal Pinto said that 'Friday July 18 ' is not only the Golden Letter day in the annals of Mangalore's aviation circles, but also in the history of Mangalore itself. "A lot of effort has gone through in achieving this feat. A lot of persons have contributed their mite in realizing this great dream. I thank Air India Express commercial manager Ratan Bali, Mangalore operations head Chellam Prasad, Mangalore Airport director M R Vasudeva, all my colleagues Archibald Menezes and office-bearers and members of 14 associations of Mangaloreans in Kuwait, Karnataka NRI Forum convener Rajesh Sequeira and media person for their support," he added.

Archibald Menezes too in his address thanked the media and all those involved in bringing about direct flight to Mangalore. “Earlier we used to take 18 hours to reach our motherland from Kuwait. But henceforth we can have our dinner in Kuwait and can be here in Mangalore for the breakfast. What else can we desire than this bonanza," he exclaimed.

Mangalore Airport director M R Vasudeva in his address said that though the Mangalore airport has achieved a lot in the last couple of years with regard to international flights, infrastructure development, increase in revenue etc, it has yet to travel a great deal in order to be recognized as one of the premier airports of the country. "My dream is to put Mangalore airport firmly in the international arena with all modern facilities. I do not want to sit with these few achievements. Mangalore has the potential to become one of the premier airports in the country. We are already earning good revenue and making profit. Now the onus is on us to continue the good work. I have a vision for this and I seek support from all of you in realizing this mission. I specially want the media to highlight these issues, so that a public opinion is created and work goes on unabated," he said further.

Air India Express Mangalore operations manager Chellam Prasad, Congress leader Tejomaya, Indian Airlines manager Nagesh Shetty, Air India Express commercial manager Ratan Bali were present at the press conference.

Madam, why are you getting annoyed? Since Naveen found the fraud of AIE. This is the first time you go directly, that’s why you are more excited. After 2 rounds you will come to know how much more you pay compared to Kerala and get silly treatment, Silly snack packet less than Rs. 20 cost and more of that cramped seats, it look like cinema house seats. After paying so high you feel for it. If you take so much price for the ticket then provide right facility

I must appreciate the advantages of having direct flights to Mangaluru and thanks to AIE.However, its also true, that AIE has very well encashed the situation, rather beyond business ethics. AIE management and policy makers must realise the truth that 'One can not fool all the people all the time'.

The voice rasied by many readers about high fare depicts the truth and its time for AIE to wake up and work ways and means to improve the efficiency and productivity there by cutting the fare.We dont mind to pay. But lets not get the feeling that we are taken for a ride.

Daijiworld and the whole Team...I am thankful to you from the bottom of my heart for publishing better and better news with splendid photograps. At the same time, I take this opportunity to advise to all those who have commented on this article from Saudi Arabia that, Air India Express (AIE) will never start a direct take off from Jeddah and then landing in Mangalore because of the long distance. It is very easy to talk but difficult to digest the fact too.

If so, where is the question remains saying 'Dinner in Kuwait, Breakfast in Mangalore - That's What Direct Flight Means'. This phrase should be read as "Dinner in Jeddah, Breakfast in Mangalore - That's What via and via in-Direct Flight Means". This is why my beloved Mangalorean living people in Saudi Arabia, I tell you what, "Don't think of grinding ingridents in advance in your grinder withour catching a giant Fish is underneath the water in the deep sea which I feel is absolutely useless".

Let the other GCC Countries Mangalorean passangers enjoy this facility and let us digest ourselves a super natural fact of digit number "13" which simply means 'UNLUCKY" for us who live in KSA here. At the same time, let me also lovingly remind you of our KSA. This Country is a only GCC Country where one can earn a bit and really save in a peice of box. BE COOL. That's it!!!!!!!! Lancy.

good to know about the flight from kuwait, its a great acheivement. Air India Express has to think about the way they corn our pockets. The fares from Dubai are none sense. I dont understand why can they allow other airlines to fly from Managlore so that people can have better options.

To all the passengers boarding from Dubai..who boast about the direct flight to Mangalore ..Air India express is ripping your pocket...especially if you are boarding the flight from Dubai or Sharjaha. To confirm this you just compare the fare between Sharjah - Mangalore and Kuwait Mangalore.....on any particular date...... You will get a shock of your life when you see the difference.

I dont know who designed this wonderful pricing for the UAE - Mangalore Sector. And to my dismay the fares to manglore are much more compared to any other destinations of Kerala? Is this a way to skimming the Mangaloreans as they are peace loving people? Do we have to resort to Air India Express Roko for the same?

It is rightly said Mangalore is on the International Map. Air India Express has brought Mangalore Closer to the Global Business World. This is not enough to bring people from the Gulf to Mangalore. Along with people opportunities should come to Mangalore. Lets change the living standards of all Indians.

This is yet another feather in the cap for Mr. Vasudev Rao who has been greatly responsible for the all round growth of The Bajpe Airport. This unassuming gentleman means business and even though he has made great strides towards progress of The Mangalore International airport he is blessed with simplicity of heart and mind. It is also good to see The Air India lady manager doing a fine job. I had an occasion to meet this fine lady recently at a party and indeed she is blessed great sales qualities. She is convincing, humourohumorousgreat manager. I am sure that during her tenure traffic between Mangalore and other parts of the world will see considerable growth. Joe Gonsalves
