Puttur, Jul 16: Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday July 15, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade said that the proposed Netravati river diversion project, if implemented, will hit the fishermen, farmers dependent on river and other people very hard. "I have been expressing my total opposition to this plan since the time it was originally mooted," he explained.
He has asked the government to shelve this project. About the bad condition of roads and highways in the state, he opined that not building these roads as per the quality and other specifications of the project, have been responsible for such poor condition of the roads. "Unless we develop the roads in a scientific manner, we cannot witness any improvement in the quality of our roads," he said.
Chikungunya is spreading its tentacles, beyond the reach of all out efforts made by the government and organizations. People need to take individual care of themselves and their families to ensure that they do not suffer from this disease, he advised.
