Bengaluru, Dec 13: A video clip showing former deputy chief minister of Karnataka and senior BJP leader, K S Eshwarappa, asking party workers to rely on falsehood if the need be when convincing voters to choose their party, has fallen into the hands of the Congress party. Congress is using this footage to raise questions about the level of integrity of BJP leaders.
In the video, Eshwarappa is seen addressing a meeting of party workers at Koppal. In the video, he can be seen telling party activists to use lies if it is needed to win support of people for the party.
Eshwarappa, speaking at the said meeting held on December 4, can be seen asking party workers to convince the people by explaining to them achievements of their party which is currently ruling at the centre. "We should tell them what we will do if they vote our party to power in Karnataka, particularly what our party has done for the welfare of dalits, backward castes, women, and farmers and what we will do if we come to power. In case you are not aware of the details, you can use imaginary information. Being politicians, we can never afford to show ignorance about anything," he can be heard saying. He also can be seen asking party workers to use imposing image of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, to their advantage towards impressing upon the voters.
Giving examples, he tells the people present at the meeting to claim that Pakistan never had the guts to attack India when Vajpayee was the Prime Minister, but that soldiers of the enemy country gained courage and attacked security forces of India during Manmohan Singh's tenure. :You can safely say that Modi accounted for several Pakistani soldiers when he became Prime Minister because it suits the aggressive image Modi has," he added.
Eshwarappa told them that during their house visits of voters, they should not keep mum if the families claim that Manmohan singh was a good administrator and Siddaramaiah has done good things for the downtrodden. "If we keep our mouths shurt, we cannot remain in political field,"he is heard warning the workers.
Congress leaders have jumped to their feet and grabbed the opportunity provided by this video footage to attack the saffron party. Congress leaders said that this shows political game plan of BJP leaders and their culture. "BJP is known to concoct stories and spread lies all over. They are now pressing party workers to follow them on wrong path," said working president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, Dinesh Gundu Rao.
Eshwarappa, who was contacted, did not want to speak about the video. He just said that this address was meant for the internal meeting of his party and not public consumption.
