Mangaluru, Dec 9: Well-known actor Prakash Rai will take part in the 'Walk for Harmony' from Farangipete to Mani on December 12 led by district in charge minister Ramanath Rai aimed at restoring peace and harmony in the district.
Addressing media here on Saturday, December 9 at mini town hall, Ramanath Rai said, "CPI leader Sriram Reddy and CPI (M) leader Shridhar Gowda will also take part in the walk along with actor Prakash Rai. The walk from Farangipete will culminate at Mani with a public meet. The stage at Mani will be named after Harish Poojary. Dakshina Kannada has been always known for peace and harmony, but some communal forces have created disturbances which have harmed the reputation of the district.

“Organisations which are involved in murders are excluded from this walk. This walk is not being organised under the banner of any political party and is open to all peace-loving citizens. Earlier, this programme was scheduled to take place on September 12, but due to some reasons, was postponed to December 12,” he said.
Minister for food and civil supplies U T Khader, district Congress president Harish Kumar, CPIM district secretary Vasanth Acharya, Dalit leader Devdas, DYFI district president Muneer Katipalla and others were present.
