Mangaluru, Dec 9: In a moving incident, Subramanya, a resident of Bangerakatte of Parenki Village in Madanthyar of Belthangady taluk, brought his ailing mother lifting her in his arms, to the district commissioner's (DC) office urging the authorities to build a home for his family under the government scheme. The incident happened on Friday, December 8.
Sarojamma (70), the ailing mother of Subramanya, received the 'Possession Certificate' or 'Hakkupatra' for the 2.75 cents of land on January 11, 2016. After that, she applied to the government to build a home on this land under 'Basava Vasathi Yojana' scheme through Madanthyar gram panchayat. However, the application was not passed as she did not possess Aadhar card.
Subsequently, she met the then DC Dr K G Jagadish and appraised him of her plight. He had instructed the gram panchayat to immediately build a house for her. However, the gram panchayat did not respond to his order.
Journalists took up the issue with Kumar, additional district commissioner. He said, "The house was not built as Sarojamma did not possess an Aadhar card. We met her at the Wenlock Hospital where she was being treated and the Aadhar card has been done now. I will instruct the concerned gram panchayat officials to get the house constructed immediately,"
The DC also displayed exemplary humanity by arranging the ambulance and asking the lady to be admitted to a hospital in Belthangady. He also told that he has asked the concerned officials to meet her at Belthangady hospital.
