Dammam: Three job aspirants encounter hardships in Saudi, returning home

Daijiworld Media Network - Dammam (SP)

Dammam, Dec 8: Three young men from undivided Dakshina Kannada district, who had left for Dammam, Saudi Arabia for employment through an agency in the city, had to face lot of problems there. The youngsters who dreamt of getting lucrative employment there and supporting their families, and unexpectedly came face to face with bitter experiences, happen to be Sachin Kumar from Udupi, Abdul Rashid from Uppinangady, and Santosh Shetty from Beltangady.

The trio had gone to Dammam city in Saudi Arabia via Mumbai through a visa agency at Mangaluru on March 24, 2017.

The youth had got visa under the category of electricians, and they were promised of handsome income. But they said that the company harassed them by not providing employment as promised, and failed to provide facilities for stay, food and others. When they insisted on working as electricians, they were taken to farcical interviews where the company ensured that the candidates failed. The young men told Naushad, representative of Indian Social Forum, which took up their cases, that they were forced to remain in their room for several months.

Indian Social Forum brought this information to the notice of Indian Embassy there and Naushad held talks with the agency and company with the support of the embassy on behalf of Indian Social Forum. The concerned were asked to make payment of salary due to the three young men, and to issue exit letters if proper employment cannot be procured for them. SDPI Dakshina Kannada unit leaders supported this initiative of Indian Social forum by providing necessary supportive documents.

Indian Social Forum has arranged to provide food and stay facilities besides return fare for the distressed young men. As a result of the efforts put by the forum, Sachin, Rashid and Santosh will be returning home together. They will arrive at the international airport here on Saturday December 9, Indian Social Forum stated.

These Saudies dont have the guts to treat the white skinned employees this way. A fitter becomes manager, a cleaner becomes garage manager, a peon becomes office manager as long as they are white skinned. Unfortunately, indians have down graded themselves by accepting whatever is offered at whatever salary they are paid. Even Phillipino staff has a good protection from their Govt. Our govt has only an eye wash system. No one in Govt has the guts to tackle these Saudies.

Saudi is in dire economic straits n internal turmoil hence it is not at all advisable to go there! BTW, the entire gulf region is in big problems with Qatar being thrown out of GCC!!
Instead of getting treated like beggars there, skilled technicians have great scope to earn decent income here then y go just because a neighbor or relative, who has gone earlier, has done well!

Indeed a very kindhearted and magnanimous service by the Indian Social Forum.

The members of the forum spent their own money to provide accommodation to the three young men and met various expenses of theirs.

    Noble indeed.

Thank you on behalf of those who suffered in Saudi Arabia.

It is very sad. Do not lose hope, if you lose hope this is no life. Whatever happens in your life, no matter how troubling things might seem, Even when all doors remain closed, God will open up a new path for three of you. because God was your witness. Just pray.
