Udupi, Dec 5: Sadananda Nayak from Hiriyadka in the district who resembles Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and Augustine Almeida, whose appearance is like that of Mahatma Gandhi, have been in high demand in Gujarat.
Both of them are now actively involved with electioneering in Gujarat after reaching Gujarat from Mumbai on Sunday. After taking part in public meeting at Khanapur, they reached Gandhi Ashram in Ahmedabad. Lot of people sought to take selfies in their company. It is learnt that even top officials are seeking to be photographed with them although both of them do not possess modern cellphones.
It is gathered that both of them went to Gujarat by spending their own money. Once they reached Ahmedabad, BJP activists lent helping hand. Both Nayak and Almeida said that they are scheduled to proceed to Manipur assembly constituency, adding that the conditions there look like being very conducive for the victory of BJP. They said that they will return home after December 15 if they get food and lodging facility till then.
Both of them had attracted lot of attention during the recent Dharma Samsad here and when the Prime Minister visited Ujire sometime back. Before that, Sadananda Nayak had taken part in a tableau at Bajpe.
Nayak (59), who was working in a hotel in the past, later worked in KMC Manipal, before retiring recently. Almeida (71), who mostly worked in Mumbai and has the experience of working some foreign destinations too was involved with doing welding work under the sea. His parents were from Mulky and Thottam and he currently resides at Andheri, Mumbai.
