Udupi, Dec 2: Around Rs 4 crore has been spent on the Dharma Sansad session that was held at Udupi from November 24 to 26. Though the estimated expenditure was Rs 5.5 crore, the amount was reduced significantly because of strict monitoring of expenses.
"The food expense, which amounted to Rs 70 lac, was borne by Shri Krishna Math. Out of the remaining Rs 3.3 crores spent, only 60 percent was received through funds from devotees and well-wishers. We have also got assurance from the devotees that 20 percent of the remaining amount would be borne by them. However, the deficit still remains," said P Vilas Nayak, treasurer.
Eight north Indian seers who had come for the Dharma Sansad are still in Udupi and are visiting various holy places. They are residing in the guest house in the vicinity of Shri Krishna Math.
