Mangaluru, Dec 1: One of the two cargo boats Mangaluru capsized in the ferocious waves in the Arabian Sea brought about by cyclone Ockhi on Friday December 1.

The boats were carrying stocks of groceries and M-sand to Lakshadweep when one of the boats capsized. The other boat too has sunken half way, it is learnt. As many as 14 people who were in the boats are stranded.

Coastal Security Force personnel have rushed to their rescue.

It is learnt that as many as fourteen people who were in the boats are stranded. The operation to rescue them is in progress.

It is said that the boats got caught up in the waves triggered by cyclone Ockhi and capsized.

Alex, a fisherman in one of the boats said that the boats were unable to come to the shore or drop anchor because of the storm. 

The fishermen in the boats belong to Safa fisheries and NMPT fisheries.
