Bengaluru, Dec 1: President of state Congress IT cell, Kartik Somayaji, filed a complaint with the city police commissioner on Thursday November 30 seeking action against social websites run by the supporters of BJP MP from Mysuru, Pratap Simha, and his party for their insulting posts against celebrated women warriors from the state's history, queen of Kittur, Chennamma, and Onake Obavva.
The complaint says that derogatory and defamatory posts concerning these illustrious ladies have been made in social websites, I Support BJP, I Support Pratap Simha, Narendra Modi Fans from Karunadu, and Postcard Kannada.com. Kartik said that through these posts, made at the instigation of the said MP, the concerned have indulged in character assassination of these warriors and thus spoiling social health.

Responding to the complaint, Pratap Simha stated that he cannot be held responsible for posts made by some persons who have opened Facebook page in his name and posted unwanted things there. He said he wants such people to be subjected to legal action. Speaking at the journalists day programme at Mysuru on Thursday, Simha clarified that a fan, in his enthusiasm to express his opposition to Hindi movie, 'Padmavati', had made insulting remarks about Onake Obavva and Kittur Chenamma. "I strongly condemn this act. I am not aware who did this. How can I be responsible for this post?" he wondered.
Pratap Simha expressed resentment at the fact that some visual media gave these things wide publicity, by projecting as if he had made these comments. He said protests were held against him based on these reports. He appreciated the print media for restraint exercised by it in this incident.
President of Karnataka Pradesh Women's Congress Committee, Laxmi Hebbalkar, in the meanwhile, said that the BJP activists have insulted the womenfolk by sharing messages about great women that are in bad test. She blamed BJP leaders of being ignorant of history. "Pratap Simha and BJP should be ashamed of these posts. BJP, which indulges in cheap politics, will get appropriately punished for this lapse" she said, addressing activists of her party who held protest against Pratap Simha on 'Thursday in front of Gandhi statue.
