Mangaluru, Nov 30: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai, said that a 'walk for harmony' will be organized on December 12 because of the harm being inflicted on harmony in the district by communal forces.
"The rally will move from Farangipet to Mani. BJP and SDPI are the parties which are behind the disturbance of harmony, communal clashes, and murders in the district. Therefore, these two parties will be left out of the said programme. The rally will be held with the coming together of all the like-minded organizations, duly praying for peace to permanently settle in the district," he stated, speaking at Vidhana Soudha on Thursday November 29.
"In the recent years, efforts have been going on to damage harmony in the district for political gains. This has resulted in an environment of disquiet in the district. I have planned this walk to ease the situation and ensure that peace settles down in the district," he said.
Rai explained that harmony walk had been planned earlier, but permission for the same could not be secured. Therefore, it has been posted to December 12, he clarified.
