Kundapur, Nov 29: A tea-seller who had put up his stall near the bus stand here was allegedly assaulted by a hotel owner here on Wednesday November 29.
It is learnt that with great difficulty, the tea-seller had managed to save some money to buy a flask. He was earning his livelihood by selling tea to shopkeepers near the bus stand.
However, the hotel owner allegedly tried to put him out of business. On Wednesday, the hotelier confronted him and questioned, "I have secured a licence from the town council to run this hotel. With whose permission are you selling tea here?"
This led to a full-fledged argument between the two.
Out of anger, the hotelier then allegedly threw away the tea-seller's flask and assaulted him.
Kundapur police who arrived at the spot warned the hotelier. They then got a new flask for the tea-seller and instructed the hotelier to provide compensation to the tea-seller. The matter was then settled.
