Bengaluru, Nov 28: Retired director general of police, H N Satyanarayana Rao, has filed defamation suit against IPS officer, D Roopa, and two media houses. The suit relates to allegations that Rao had accepted bribe to provide facilities illegally to Tamil Nadu politician, Sasikala, at Parappana Agrahara central prison in the city.

The officer has quantified the suit amount as Rs 20 crore. He has also named a print media and a visual media, charging them with publishing the allegation made by Roppa in toto. The case has been filed in city civil court.

The court, which verified the documents, posted the case for hearing to December 12.

Roopa, the then deputy inspector general (prisons), had given written complaint against Rao in writing to the government, accusing him of accepting bribe. Satyanarayana Rao, who claimed that his entire service did not have even a black spot, had rebuked Roopa for levelling the charges by relying on information provided by someone.

As the news made national headlines, Rao, who was just three days away from retirement, had been sent on compulsory leave. He had earlier served notice to Roopa, seeking her reply, and urging her to tender unconditional apology. He also had stipulated that this apology should be published in the media.

Some lawyers must have gone through the lack of proof and gave him the idea to file a suit. Just hold him responsible for the mess and award him some years in jail for the dereliction of duty and allow special treatment to Sashikala. Roopa has proved that even women can be honest and courageous when needed. Let the media conduct a survey and people are likely to approve Roopa 80 to 90 percent while only 10 percent will support Retired director general of police, H N Satyanarayana Rao. He knew that he would be retiring soon and made arrangement to get kickback through secret channels. He cannot be so innocent and ignorant that Sashikala was awarded special treatment.

Where were you when Sasikala was enjoying so many facilities in jail when you were in charge of Jail? Were you blind at that time? When you were at verge of your retirement you should have been very careful. You should have handled this Sasikalas case very carefully and minutely . Why you are blaming IPS Officer RoopaYou wont win this case and even you wont get a single paisa in this case. You cannot shirk your responsibilty. It is just to show that you are innocent.
