Mangaluru, Nov 18: Mangaluru-based Ideal Ice Cream, a brand that has brought name and fame to the city with its delectable flavours, bagged eight awards in ‘The Great Indian Ice Cream and Frozen Dessert Contest’ held in Gurugram (erstwhile Gurgaon) on November 16.

Announcing this in a press conference here on Saturday November 18, Mukund Kamath, managing director of Ideal Ice Cream said, "Ideal Ice Cream has won eight awards in season 6 of 'The Great Indian Ice Cream and Frozen Dessert Contest’ held on November 15 and 16 at Gurugram. The event was organized by DuPoint Nutrition and Health and the Indian Dairy Association. Ideal Ice Cream won the maximum awards among the 103 participants. We have continuously been winning awards from the year 2008. This year we were able to win three 'Best in India' awards, four gold awards and one silver award.

"There were more than 380 entries in 6 categories. The competitions introduced 'Sorbet' as one of the award categories for the first time, to further endorse its popularity as a healthier fruit-infused dozen alternative in the ice cream market. The panel consisted of world renowned ice cream specialists and 25 judges from leading food and beverages companies," he said.

"We have always got positive feedbacks from customers which have encouraged us to provide good quality ice creams, and day by day we got better and better. We want to try unique products which are not in the market. We are looking for land at Kinnigoli for a new setup as we are doubling our capacity," Kamath said.

"We started competeting since 2008. In 2008, we bagged two silvers and two bronze awards, in 2009 we bagged one silver and one bronze, in 2010 we won one silver and one bronze, in 2013 Ideal was one of the top contenders winning two gold medals, two silvers and best in class for vanilla ice cream. In 2016 Ideal Ice Cream won the best in class award for its Swiss chocolate ice cream, gold award for creamy vanilla ice cream, another gold for chocolate ice cream and bronze in the most innovative ice cream category for its choco chilly ice cream," he added.

Best in Class for Vanilla frozen Dessert
Gold for Vanilla ice cream
