Mangaluru: Palemar demands compensation for deaths due to doctor’s strike

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (SB)

Mangaluru, Nov 17: Former minister Krishna J Palemar demanded compensation for the deaths happened due to doctor’s strike in the state this week.

He was speaking to reporters in a press meet held in city on Friday, November 17.

"Government has no right to fix charges for private facilities. Presently private doctors and health-institutions are charging patients based on the treatment, which is not available elsewhere. Government only has the right to check the quality of private hospitals. It can also take action against a hospital if any cheating happens there," Palemar said.

“The KPME bill is full of many conditions. Government itself does not have a clear idea about this bill. Private hospitals are providing various types of facilities and high class treatments to the patients. The services are also provided as per the patients’ wish. If someone requires an American surgeon for treatment, a hospital is making all arrangements for that. It costs more than a local surgeon’s fee in this case. Then how can they charge as per government’s order?” he questioned.

“Government should rethink on KPME bill and immediately it should release Rs 10 lac for the family members who lost their dear ones during doctors’ strike,” he demanded.

He also urged that the doctors to try to oppose the bill using some other ways than by observing strike. “Humanity is important. They should look at the matters from poor people’s angle as they cannot afford huge amounts for medicine. In this situation doctors and hospitals should help the poor patients." Palemar said.

What about high fees in the primary and secondary education. Specifically in PUC education. There should be a bill to regulate this .Then we can see how Mr. Palemar reacts to this .So far no govt have done this due to vested interest. Like medical hospital, education is also a basic necessity of the people and charging exorbitant fees is really like a murder. Who will regulate this. No MLA , MP or PM will take a chance to bring a bill. Politicians started opposing the RTE and last week only they mentioned that RTE to be scrapped. Great people !

If the government hospitals were good n with all the facilities instead of going private hospitals for treatment people would have gone to government hospitals. Wake up both state m central government atleast now, n upgrade the government hospitals equip them well n maintain the cleanliness.. So infutre atleast people will not have to die due to all these types of reasons. Provide free medical education to doctors n make the doctors to work atleast for 3-5 yrs in rural setups.

Thanks to the Hon High Court of Karnataka for lashing the leaders of IMA and other associations who went on strike. Their inhuman and unwanted strike caused more than 45 deaths. Those Leaders were supported by many private hospitals and BJP leaders. It shown BJP's double standard. Palemar's demand is good. But where was he when the doctors went on strike for 4 days? Will BJP leaders and Palemar demand the private hospitals and the doctors to pay the compensation? Is not a drama? What is the stand of BJP's medical cell which was backing the strike? People of Karanataka are not fools Mr.Palemar. Media have already exposed your double standard. Whe should thank the Hon Justice of the High Court, CM Siddharamayya and the health minister Ramesh Kumar.

Palemarji you seems to be wokeup in right time as elections are nearing. Compensating the kins of deceased is welcome move. You know people who started blaming means they feel insecure like yeddi, sincerely work towards betterment of atleast of your constituency rather than appearing on media just before elections. People are aware of ground reality they dont need fake promises like 15lakh in your bank account till you come to power, once you elected five years for honeymooning....??

What about 33 children who died in UP Hospital ? What about hundreds of children who die of Starvation and lack of medical treatment benefits? What about GST resulting in many small Business enterprises closing down? what about Demonetization related deaths? Come on let us be practical in our thinking. Politicizing every single issue to get mileage when Elections are around the corner?
