Kundapur, Nov 17: In a curious development which happened on Thursday November 16, a complaint was filed against three admins of 'BJP Kundapura' WhatsApp group for alleged posting of obscene picture involving BJP state president, B S Yeddyurappa, and Udupi-Chikkamgaluru MP, Shobha Karandlaje and also an objectionable post.
The complaint was filed by the local BJP Mandal president, Kadoor Suresh Shetty, against admins of the said groups, district president of BJP Backward Classes Morcha, Rajesh Kaveri, BJP district vice president, Kishore Kumar, and BJP leader, Raju Poojary. The complaint was filed in cyber crime division of the police station here.
A faction within BJP is livid at the announcement made by Yeddyurappa at the Navabharata Parivartana Rally held in the town that independent MLA representing local assembly constituency, Haladi Srinivas Shetty, would be joining BJP again during January next year and that he would be fielded as BJP candidate from here in the next election. This announcement had angered BJP loyalists who have remained with the party through thick and thin, and those who have grouse against Haladi. They had registered their protest at the same venue but Yeddyurappa had asked detractors Haladi to leave the meeting and warned them of disciplinary action.
Thereafter, this issue turned into a topic of active discussions within BJP leaders and activists here. Unable to check their emotions, a few members posted comments that are abusive in nature, against Yeddyurappa and Karandlaje. It is said that a obscene picture of Yeddyuurappa and Karandlaje too was posted under the said WhatsApp group. As this is deemed to have insulted party leaders, Kadoor Suresh Shetty registered complaint against Kishore Kumar, Rajesh Kaveri, and Raju Poojary, who are identified as the top leaders of anti-Haladi faction.
Haladi, a four-time MLA, had resigned from BJP in 2012 after he was asked to attend oath-taking ceremony of Jagadish Shettar ministry with promise of ministerial berth, but was denied the post at the last moment without giving any advance information.
