Kundapur, Nov 16: "Cartoonists have a unique viewpoint. Things which we know or do not know are scrutinized in a different angle by them. They call a spade a spade," said Dr Sandhya Pai, editor of 'Taranga' weekly magazine. She was speaking after inaugurating the three-day 'Cartoon Habba' at Lakshmi Narasimha Kalamandir auditorium, in Kundapur.
She drew a caricature on the occasion and also said, "Cartoon festivals of this kind give more information about the world of cartoons to the public. They are also instrumental in generating budding cartoonists."
Cartoonist Ganesh Hebbar was felicitated on this occasion.
Giving information about the festival, noted cartoonist Satish Acharya, organizer of this event, said, "This is the seventh cartoon festival in total and the fourth one at Kundapur. Kundapur is renowned as the land of cartoonists. There are 29 cartoonists in this taluk alone. This programme is organized with the intention of increasing this number. The theme of this festival is 'Cyber concern'."
Shekar Ajekar, district president, journalists' forum, Manu Handadi, teacher and stand-up comedian of 'Kundapra kannada', Ganesh Aithal, president, Rotary club, Kundapur were present on the dais. Ramakrishna Herle welcomed the gathering, compered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
