Bangkok, Nov 14: Thai Kannada Balaga (TKB), an association of Kannadigas living in Thailand, celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava and Deepavali at Holiday Inn, Bangkok, Thailand on November 12.
The programme began with the lighting of lamp by dignitaries like Uday Jadugar, Swarna Kamath, president KV Patil and secretary Smitha.
The inaugural speech was delivered by K V Patil. Abbagani Ramu, DCM of Indian Embassy in Thailand graced the occasion as chief guest.
It was a day filled with fun and frolic as ace magician Uday Jadugar left the crowd mesmerized with his magic show and ventriloquism show. Young and emerging entertainer Preetham Hariharan filled the stage by performing Rudhra Nirthya, contemporary and freestyle dance. Classical, filmy and folk singer Gayitri Yathiraj touched the heart of listeners with her sweet voice.
Members of Thai Kannada Balaga namely Basavaraj Hanji, Prisha, Ravi Bhovi, Ravi M B, Nayana, Vijeth, Akshatha, Mamatha, and Nagalakshmi took the stage with their singing and dance performance. Young members Shaastha, Bhuvi and Vikas also presented their singing talent.
Apart from cultural performances, prizes and mementos were distributed to the winners of the Independence Cup cricket tournament that was organized on August 6, 2017. Team Hoysala lifted the winning cup while team Rastrakoota stood the runners up of the tournament. Punit MK was adjudged man of the match as well as best batsman, Ninganagouda as best bowler and Ganesh as emerging batsman.
The event turned out to be a grand success with pocket-full of entertainment and tasty Indian food. Smitha Laxminarayan rendered the vote of thanks.
