Udupi, Nov 14: "In the last four and a half years, more than Rs 1800 crore worth developmental work has taken place at Udupi legislative constituency because of corruption-free, honest, transparent and active administration," said Janardhan Thonse, district Congress president at a press meet here on Tuesday, November 14.
"This was possible only because of the initiative taken by Pramod Madhwaraj, minister for sports and youth affairs. He works round the clock in the service of the poor and needy and has given able administration,” Thonse added.
"It is really sad to note that in spite of the constant effort and developments made by the minister, certain leaders of BJP, out of jealousy, are making baseless allegations against him. People of Udupi will never tolerate this. His way of resolving the issues of people, in the presence of the concerned officials, during the 'Jana Samparka Sabhe' is unique and modern in approach. He has conducted such meetings in all the 35 wards of Udupi city and 31 villages of Udupi panchayat," said Thonse.
"It is a well-known fact that Pramod Madhwaraj is working honestly and relentlessly towards the vision of making Udupi as a model constituency by 2025. He has implemented all the promises he made during the election, in accordance with 'Vision 2025' in different sectors like education, health, transport, road development, bus stands, bridges, shelter, continuous supply of electricity and water. People of Udupi know that all the charity work done by Pramod Madhwaraj is from the money that is generated from his own business like what his father used to do during his time. Ups and downs in business and economy are natural. Pramod Madhwaraj is doing the charity within these limitations," he informed.
"Why did Raghupati Bhat, who is accusing the minister of stopping charity work, has stopped the distribution of cement after the elections? Regardless of party or affiliation, development work is going on in Udupi. Shortly, the chief minister is going to inaugurate the 200-bed air-conditioned government hospital in Udupi. This is the first hospital of this kind in India. This credit should go to Pramod Madhwaraj," he said.
Congress does not need Raghupati Bhat
"Congress has vehemently opposed the behaviour of Raghupati Bhat right from the beginning. Congress will not induct a person who is accused of Padmapriya death case, Rave party case, Sex CD case, land scam and denotification case. Our party has no relation to the news that is going viral in social sites about him joining the Congress party. People of Udupi need not learn any lesson from him. The question of inducting him in Congress does not arise at all," clarified Janardhan Thonse.
B Narasimha Murthy, secretary district Congress party, Satish Amin, president, Udupi block, Nityananda Shetty, president Brahmavar block, Janardhan Bhandarkar and Bhaskar Rao Kidiyoor were present on the occasion.
