Belagavi: Rs 11 crore being spent on food at Suvarna Soudha during winter session

Daijiworld Media Network - Belgavi (MS)

Belagavi, Nov 14: A staggering amount of Rs 91.5 lac is being spent every day as food expenses for 25,000 people at the winter session of legislative assembly at Suvarna Soudha, Belagavi.

During the session, breakfast and lunch is being provided every day for 10,000 people, while 5,000 people are given dinner at the expense of state exchequer. Every meal costs Rs 410, while the expense of each breakfast is Rs 300.

The question now is, who are the 10000 people who are attending the winter session. According to the officials of the ministry, the number comprises of ministers, legislators, their personal assistants, people who accompany them, officers, staff, police and journalists. However, there is no clear-cut answer from the officials to the query of accurate bifurcated figures of these people.

As per the sources, during the recently held Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Vidhan Soudha at Bengaluru, the same number of people were provided with food and the same figure is being shown here also.

The legislative assembly will function for 10 days in this winter session. If one adds the days of preparation and two days of holidays and post-session work, the total period will be around 16 days. Accordingly, food needs to be provided to officials, staff and police during this period. It is estimated that more than Rs 11 crore will be spent on food alone during this session.

    Meal is Rs. 410 ?
    Breakfast Rs. 300 ?
How big tummies they have ?????
Shouldn't they open a "Indira Canteen" in Suvarna Sauda ??
Breakfast Rs.5/- and Meals Rs. 10/-
total billing for 10000 breakfast and lunch & 5000 dinners will be only Rs. 2,00,000/-
Could have saved 89,50,000 per day.
That is whopping Rs. 8,95,00,000/- in 10 days winter session.

    Good,
Al least we got some figure for this session.
Same as this, we have the right to know the expenses for our PM's trip, costumes which he is changing every hour in a trip and advertising and every event, rally and his security expenses.

Here's the most striking difference between the two PMs: Modi has made more state visits—official visits to countries—compared to summit-oriented visits by Singh.
Modi has been criticised for his foreign visits and days spent out of the country. But Singh was nearly as well travelled as Modi, in terms of days abroad.

The PMO was also categorical in stating that the expenses on Prime Minister’s clothes were not made from government exchequer and there was no such information on record available with the office.

Our opponents make an issue of PM Modi's foreign visits but as per figures, Manmohan Singhji visited more countries than Modiji. The number of PM Modi's foreign visits appear higher because when Manmohan Singhji used to go, no one got to know when he went or came back," Shah said.

Shah's claims may have some truth in them. Most of Modi's foreign trips have been marked by a wooing of diaspora and non-resident Indians abroad, and a high-decibel media coverage.

According to the list provided by the government, Modi has - in the three years of his tenure since assuming office in May 2014 - already visited 56 countries, including four so far to the US, and Nepal, Japan, Russia, Afghanistan and China two times each.

On the other hand, Manmohan Singh spent 144 days in foreign visits and visited 35 countries during his first term. In his second term, he spent 161 days in foreign visits and visited 38 countries, according to the data provided by IndiaSpend.

Creation of vidhan soudha and holding of assembly session in Belgaum is strategically wrong for Karnataka people.
It is making people of Karnataka poor.. As we spend lot of money on these babus.
Instead Belgaum district should have been sold to Maharashtra for monetary gain.
In history, Alaska was sold to USA by Russia by some million dollars.
This is how many land related disputes can be solved...
