Udupi: SP's first hand experience with handling traffic, minister Madhwaraj pays fine

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Nov 12: District in-charge minister, Pramod Madhwaraj, whose helmet-less travel on motor bike when attending a programme held at Karje in the taluk on Thursday November 9 had raised controversy, put an end to the issue by paying fine of Rs 100 on Friday at Brahmavar police station.

During the said programme of laying foundation stone for some works, the minister, who had reached the venue in advance, had spent spare time by riding a motor bike there. Some people who clicked the picture of the minister riding the two-wheeler without wearing a helmet, had posted the same in social websites, after which several had posted adverse comments. District superintendent of police (SP), Dr Sanjeev M Patil, said that the minister himself paid the fine for the above mistake.

On Saturday, the SP personally supervised traffic snarls in the city in response to complaint made by a person about increasing traffic congestion in the city. He warned those who parked their vehicles by the roadsides to desist from doing so if they wanted to avoid visits to courts and pay fines. He said that the department will strictly act against violators from Monday onward.

The SP was accompanied by deputy SP and police of the town station. The owners of commercial establishments in VST road, Corporation Bank Road and near the mosque were individually warned of action. Some customers involved with shopping were also summoned and warned about their habit of wrong parking. A few vehicles which were parked on footpath were locked while some others were towed away as their owners failed to turn up after reasonable time. Instructions were given by loudspeakers to vacate vehicles blocking traffic.

The SP was accompanied by DySP, Kumaraswamy, inspector, Navinchandra Jogi, and sub-inspector, Anantapadmanabha, during the operation.

    Shane on the minister.
all it teaches youngsters- break the rule and pay fine and keep going- wrong thing to teach kids.
CONSEQUENCES are important- what does the law say- check license, registration, suspend the license if more than 3 offenses and seize the vehicle and go to court in front of a judge and then of course fine and penalty.
    he had none of that.

This was a drama as all politicians do- in fact, if I were him I would not even pay the fine - go to court and tell the judge social media and electronic videos are not admissible unless under special circumstances or if law enforcement obtained it .

If you take corruption out and enforce the law all laws will be followed coz the consequences are meant to deter crimes and illegal activity. both of which the Congress leaders and their blind followers do not understand.

The Anatomy of crime and getting caught in Kudla is :
    Police catch you
Call father -in- law or father or friend or minister
Ask them to call Sub -Inspector
    Case Puska
Send vegetables and meat to friends house to thank him
Boast to your friends and coworkers on how you got away with contacts

Sub-inspector swallows his or her pride and asks for favors when he breaks the law!!!

and life goes on this is what I call congress culture and I have done it too!!
    shame on all of us

Instead of writing this big lecture, I humbly request you to file FIRs on MLA who threating the police like Nalin Kateel. Here the respected minister Madwaraj, agreed for his mistake and paid the fine. how much humble he is. He is great soul of our soil my friend hindu, kudla. On the other hand Nalin not even accepted his grave mistake for telling he will burn DK. This truth came out only because of Congress Govt. If it was BJP Govt. by this time police would have been "NO MORE" my friend!!!!!!!!!

Amith, You are right. Need of the hour is a paid multistory car park in the heart of city so that people can park the car and do shopping and attend work. I too would love to park car in such parking and use auto for commuting nearby places by auto and tension free! Some one should take initiative so that it will be a reality in next 4 to 5 years looking at the pace of government and public works.

I have known Mr. Sanjiv Patil for a sufficiently long time. He is NO NONSENSE person - honest and strict.

However here is a case of an individual voluntarily paying fine . I compliment minister Madhwaraj for his forthrightness.

I congratulate Mr. Patil for the good job he is doing. It will not be long before crimes get reduced to the minimum

I disagree with this move of Manoj Madhwaraj, in my opinion his license need to be suspended atleast for 6 months for the following reasons
    (a) He has done this knowingly / Intentionally
    (b) He is a responsible District In-charge Minister for Udupi district

I will also ride without helmet going forward. I can pay Rs.100 everyday from only the thousands I earn. When he can pay Rs.100 from crores he earns, cant I from thousands...I will skip a meal...want to be par with the minister :)). Break the law and pay peanuts.
