Mangaluru, Nov 10: The core committee of BJP which met in the city on Thursday November 9, decided to attack Congress government in the state by making public its failures, at the winter session of the legislature being held at Belagavi with effect from November 13.
BJP presented a united face at the core committee meeting with all the important leaders attending the meeting which was held in a private hotel here. BJP state election in-charge, Prakash Javadekear and union minister, Piyush Goyal, led the meeting in which state BJP president, Yeddyurappa, union ministers, Ananth Kumar and D V Sadananda Gowda, leader of the opposition in the council, K S Eshwarappa, leader of the opposition in the assembly, Jagadish Shettar, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Muraleedhar Rao, C M Udasi, Aravind Limbavali, Santhosh, Arun Kumar, R Ashoka and C T Ravi took part. Prahlad Joshi, D Purandeshwari and Govind Karjol were absent.
The core committee, which was set to begin at 12.30 pm, began with a delay of 45 minutes. The meeting continued after briefly dispersing for lunch at 2.30 pm, and continued till 5 pm.
At the meeting, the leaders exchanged mutual information and ideas about the way the next election has to be fought, which techniques to be used to strengthen organizational network of the party, and how to affectively place before the people the follies of the state government. The issue of selection of party candidates for legislative council, certain issues which cause discomfiture for the party, and how to make Parivartana Yatra undertaken by the party in the state a resounding success, were also discussed, party sources revealed.
On account of other urgent commitments, Sadananda Gowda and Eshwarappa left before the meeting concluded. Limbavali said at the press conference that the party's Parivartana Yatra is proving to be highly successful everywhere and that the Yatra will continue in coastal area from November 10 onward.
BJP leaders who took part in the core committee meeting also took notice of the fact that Karnataka Congress in-charge, K C Venugopal and his deputy, P C Vishnunath, have been named for their involvement in solar scam in Kerala, in the report submitted to Kerala chief minister by Justice G Shivaranjan Commission. The report also mentions about raping of a woman by Venugopal. Limbavali said that it would be in fitness of things if these two people are sent back to the Congress headquarters.
BJP state president, B S Yeddyurappa, who sought resignation of All India Congress Committee general secretary and MP, K C Venugopal, because of his involvement with scam and rape, from all the posts he holds, has warned that if he fails to do so, all the programmes with his participation will be mobbed by BJP activists.
