Mangaluru: Konkani Global Music Award on Dec 10, Henry D’Souza chosen for lifetime achievement

Mangaluru, Nov 9: 9th Global Konkani Music Awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, December 10 at Kalaangann, Shaktinagar in the city at 6 pm.

Music legend Henry D’Souza from Mumbai has been chosen for the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Star Vasundhara Das will the chief guest and Lawry Travasso from Goa will perform.

Top-3 nominees in all 6 categories have been announced.

The first panel of 3 judges selected the Top-3 nominees of the 9th Global Konkani Music Awards from among many applications/recommendations. The nominees are –

1. Best Singer Female – Lavita Lobo(Chennai), Shilpa Tejaswini Cutinha, Shiny Pereira (Vamanjoor)

2. Best Singer Male - Nihal Tauro (Alangar), Prakash Naveen D’Souza(Bajpe), Robin John Paul Sequeira

3. Best Music Composer - Joel Alexander Pereira Nithin Koottungal (Cochin), Roshan John D’Souza

4. Best Lyricist - Alexander Pereira Lloyd Austin Rego (Taccode), Roshan V Cordeiro

5. Best Music Arranger - Cajetan Dias (Bengaluru) Joel Alexander Pereira, Roshan John D’Souza

6. Best Music Album - Jaison J Sequeira (Gurpur) Antony Stephen Cutinha (Sennon Productions), Nelson Mathias (Dubai)

The second panel of 3 judges will select the ultimate winners. All nominees will be honoured and winners will be announced at the awards ceremony. Each award includes Rs 25,000 cash prize, the coveted title and a trophy.

Henry D’Souza, Mumbai – of ‘Ye Ye Katrina’ fame, will be bestowed with the ‘3rd Global Konkani Music Lifetime Achievement Award’. The award consists of a cash amount of Rs 1 lac and public honour.

Internationally acclaimed singer, actress, composer and song writer Vasundhara Das, will be the chief guest. Golden Voice of Goa, Lawry Travasso, will also perform. Nach Sobhann troupe will also present scintillating dances and there will also be songs by the Singing Club of Mandd Sobhann – Sumell and the Blue Angels Choir.

The award ceremony will be compered by award-winning playwright and compere Arun Raj Rodrigues and Eminent compere and actor Amora Monteiro.

    Sangeet Samrat Henry baab is simply unforgettable. He certainly deserves this award. I wish him long healthy life.

    Out of the nominees I am extremely happy Joel Pereira is featuring in 3 categories. What a superb talent !

    First, I would like to congratulate Henry D'souza who has been chosen for lifetime achievement. This Konkani Global Music Award to be held on Dec 10 will be a mind-blowing event. He rightly deserves that as some of his songs have been big hits on all occasions. Also, I would congratulate all others who will be awarded for various other categories.

    Congratulation to Henry dsouza.Your songs ye ye kathrina and ami dogoi sezara the 2 evergreen song that made people of all age dance in the early 70.These songs made our weddings delightful to the lovely tune even today.
