Bengaluru, Nov 9: Member of Parliament (MP) from Dakshina Kannada, Nalin Kumar Kateel, has approached the High Court with a prayer to cancel the First Information Report (FIR) registered against him at Kadri police station in Mangaluru.
“On September 7, BJP workers were taken to custody illegally when they participated in a bike rally. I questioned the police after the workers were treated in improper manner. As people’s representative, I pleaded with the station officer to release the workers,” Nalin says in his petition.
“But the police registered a FIR against me to tarnish my personal image,” adds the petition.
“I have been a Member of Parliament for many years. I have discharged my duties honestly and efficiently as Member of Parliament. I pray to the court to direct concerned authorities to drop charges against me and cancel the FIR.” states the petition.
