Varnasi, Nov 7: The much-awaited celebration of the 31st annual pilgrimage feast of Infant Jesus at Mughalsarai, diocese of Varanasi is all set to take place on December 3. And it is not just the Catholics who come in numbers to this shrine, but those from all religions, communities, strata and the remotest corner of the country.
The pilgrimage procession on December 3 will begin at 1 pm and the festival holy mass will take place from 4 pm to 7 pm. The main celebrant of the mass will be Archbishop Anil Joseph Thomas Couto (Arch Diocese of Delhi).
The shrine is a part of Christ the King Church built in 1935. It was blessed and opened in 1984. Hundreds throng the shrine daily, many with tear-filled eyes seeking an urgent favour before the statue of Infant Jesus. St Mother Theresa of Kolkata was the one who personally inspired the then parish priest of Christ the King Church, Mughalsarai to establish a Shrine for Infant Jesus and dedicate it to the people in 1982.
Close to 17 km away from Varanasi, one can reach the shrine by road, rail and air. An overnight train from New Delhi to Mughalsarai is also a good option for those who travel from the capital city.
Faithful comes here from all walks of life, from different states of India such as Uttar Pradesh, Maharastra, Jharkhand, Bihar, Kolkata, Madhya Pradesh, and New Delhi, from all diverse paths of varied religions to unite as one in a common sea of humanity and to collectively kneel in worship with faith in their hearts and a prayer on their lips.
Throughout the years, not only the Catholics, but also those of other faiths have long litany of recorded miracles. Strange tales of the inexplicable abound. Many who flock here annually have their own miracle to tell.
The pilgrimage is celebrated on the first Sunday of Advent every year. A procession will be taken followed by mass at the shrine. Prayers are offered daily, both during the Mass, daily Holy Hour and weekly Novena to Infant Jesus (every Saturday evening) for all the devotees and benefactors of the shrine and also for all those who are sending their petitions.
Fr Bipin C J, the parish priest serving currently, has welcomed pilgrims anytime during the year to the pilgrimage center. Accommodation is available for pilgrims though during the feast days it is overcrowded.
All the programmes at the Shrine on December 3, 2017 will be broadcasted live on www.Daijiworld.com
Miracles of the Shrine that changed lives: Testimonies galore
My son was mute, he speaks now - Usha Devi, Tajpur
“My name is Usha Devi and I am from Tajpur village, Zakaldiha, Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh. I used to come to the shrine of Infant Jesus with a special intention for my son. My son, from his childhood was mute. Never spoke. All in my family were worried and disturbed. I started to visit the shrine. I heard many people speak about miracles taking place in this shrine. I started believing that my son would speak one day. Then I too will give share a testimony about it. I started to pray to Infant Jesus and started visiting every the shrine every Friday possible.”
“One day, all of a sudden my son started uttering some words. Thanks to Infant Jesus! I cried, thanked and ran around to tell people that my son spoke. I thank Infant Jesus for the grace we received.”
Paralysed for 4 years, Infant Jesus healed me - Shamdayal, Chandauli
“I am Shamdayal from Chandauli district, Uttar Pradesh. I had a fall on December 27, 2011 and was all of sudden paralysed completely in 2014. I was struggling between life and death. As I am old and my health was deteriorating, it was too difficult for my son who was looking me after to take care of me completely for the last four years. My son is a fine arts student and he had to attend all the classes and also look after me and my wife who is old. Tears rolled down my eyes, every day, seeing my son taking care of my daily routine, including what a human does in the morning like brushing, toilet, bathing etc.”
“Doctors around my place gave up on me. They had no hope in my health and declared many times that I would never be normal. If that was the opinion of the doctors, then why should I eat medicines and waste my money! I left all treatment and hoped only in the Almighty.”
“My son used to regularly visit the shrine of Infant Jesus, Mughalsarai. He used to tell me about his experiences in the shrine. Hence, I decided to pray to Infant Jesus of Mughalsarai from the month of June 2017. I was left with hope only in Him. Though I was bedridden, my mind was not paralysed. I started fasting and praying. You can imagine a paralysed persons’ fasting. I did it so. I fasted and prayed to Infant Jesus, the healer. After four months of deep prayers and hope, He made me get out of the bed and walk. Yes I Walked! Friends, believe in His miracle and you and your family shall be saved.”
Infant Jesus helped us to pay our debts - Jiyalal Chauhan
“My name is Jiyalal Chauhan and my wife is Nirmala Chauhan. We have sons named Pravin and Randhir. We belong to a middle class family. But the touch of Infant Jesus to our lives helped us grow.”
“We had lot of financial difficulties and we were nowhere in the scene of the village because of continues financial debts. Our sons had applied for passport in order to go abroad for any work and earn some money for the family. They were trying to acquire passport since many years. Due to low on knowledge about making passport, agents used to cheat us. Soon after, we visited an ashram in Varanasi for prayers. And after that we started to come to Infant Jesus Shrine to pray to him on Fridays. We started to pray. Surprisingly, the day we prayed, one of my sons’ passports was ready and it was delivered home. I started to believe that Infant Jesus is a miraculous God. We became strong in faith and started to pray for our sons going abroad. Believe me; there came a chance for an interview for my son, where out of 40 boys only my son was selected and that too without any travel expenses. We never knew that this great thing would happen if we pray to Infant Jesus. He made us strong. My son went abroad. It is 3 months now since he started working there. He took his brother also. Now, both of them are working abroad and sending money that we need. We repaid all our debts and bought a vehicle too. We became from zero to hero.”
“My friends… believe in Infant Jesus. We are not baptised Christians. But we believe in Infant Jesus, the miracle worker. We have only one God, not many, our Infant Jesus, our saviour.”
Infant Jesus worked series of miracles in my family - Hevanti Devi
“My name is Hevanti Devi and I live in Mughalsarai, two kilometers from the Shrine of Infant Jesus. My niece, Neelam was a bone Tuberculosis patient. After she was diagnosed with the sickness, her life was disturbed. Her husband is a labourer. Lot of money was being spent for the treatment. We went to different doctors in Mughalsarai and Varanasi. Nothing worked. That is the time when somebody told me about the Shrine of Infant Jesus and the miracle that would happen if we pray. I did not think anymore. I set out with Neelam and reached the church. Prayer was going on at the shrine. The word of the Lord was preached. We were satisfied and we got a ray of hope. We started to regularly attend the prayer service on Fridays and Saturday evenings for novena and Sunday for Mass. It became our routine to go to the shrine for prayer. We cried before the statue of Infant Jesus every day.”
“The healer started to heal my niece…she started feeling better. And, I tell you my dear friends, she stopped all medication. We placed total trust in Infant Jesus because we experienced many people witnessing healings. My niece was adamant in not taking medicines. Die or Heal! This decision and trust in Infant Jesus healed Neelam within a few months. No medicine could do this. So be strong in your faith in Infant Jesus. He is a healer.”
"I experienced a miracle in my son Ravi's life too. Falling sick once, he used all kinds of medicines without caring much about his health. One day, he felt that his testicles were swollen and grown big and he could not walk anymore because of the persistent pain. Experiencing the miracle in my niece Neelam’s life, I told my son “beta, ghabarao mat, balakyesuhai. Vo tumechangaidega” (son, do not worry, Infant Jesus shall heal you). One day I decided to go to the church at 3 am and pray to Infant Jesus. Since the gate was not open, I stayed outside and prayed. As I was in tears and praying, I heard the voice of Fr Bipin saying from inside, ‘Go home everything will be alright’. I really wondered if Fr Bipin was there at that hour. When I asked Fr Bipin the next day, if he was present at 3 am the other day, he said he was not there at that time. I then realised that it was Infant Jesus who spoke to me!”
“When I reached home at 5 am, my son said to me that around 3.30 am he saw somebody opening the door and come to him. Since it was dark in the room he could not see who it was. He said that he never felt scared, but some kind of joy. And that person touched him and went away. He started to feel strong in his legs. When I reached he had already woken up with a heavenly experience of healing. This means, while I was praying, Infant Jesus visited my home, my son and healed him.”
“My sister-in-law Meenadevi never believed in the miracles that took place in my life. One day, when both of us were travelling by cycle rickshaw at Mughalsarai market, all of a sudden, a vehicle dashed against our riksha and we were thrown to the ground. Somehow, the driver and I did not suffer any injury. But my sister-in-law suffered fractures and was bleeding. We rushed her to the railway hospital at Mughalsarai. After a few hours, the railway hospital referred the case to a higher consultation outside.”
“We took her to Rama Devi Hospital, Mughalsarai. The doctor who attended her said that she was suffering from bleeding and therefore units of blood need to be transfused to her. It was already night by then. Where could we go for blood? Somehow somebody helped in getting one unit of blood. And in emergency, the doctor started the process of transfusing blood. The patient started showing allergic reactions and started vomiting and getting chocked, not able to breath. The doctor immediately stopped the blood transfusion and told me that she would not survive if blood cannot be transfused. Telling that, the doctor left the place.”
“I was alone in the hospital at that hour of struggle. I knew that Infant Jesus would save her and hence started praying. In the midnight, I saw Jesus appearing and sitting beside the patient. It was a vision. That happened only for a moment. I immediately rushed to the night duty doctor and compelled him to transfuse the blood which led to the reaction. The doctor hesitated to do it. I persisted strongly and told him that I would take the responsibility if anything happens to the patient. The doctor with lot of fear started transfusing the blood. What a wonder! The doctor looked at me asked whom did you pray that this great miracle has happened? I replied, ‘Infant Jesus’ the healer.”
“Now my sister-in-law, Meena is a great believer of Infant Jesus. I thank Infant Jesus for all the miracles in my life.”
