Bengaluru, Nov 2: High drama prevailed when over 50 members of Kannada Kasturi Janapara Vedike, a pro Kannada organisation, tried to vandalize English signboards and banners at the MG Road-Brigade Road junction on Wednesday morning. They were arrested by the Ashok Nagar police.
Despite a government rule that 70% of the words on the signboards should be in Kannada, many shopkeepers have not implemented the rule, lashed out protestors. They were prevented by the police when they tried to vandalise the property.
If the police had not intervened, the protesters had plans to blacken English signboards from MG Road up to Attibele.
The protesters were released later in the day.
