Bengaluru, Nov 1: Outpatient department (OPD) medical services will not be available to public throughout the state on Friday, November 3. This was announced by state unit of Indian Medical Association. The association is demanding the state government to abolish certain points that are detrimental to both the doctors of private hospital and the public, in the proposed amendment that is to be made to the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act (KPME) 2017.

A statement released by the association said that they are available for open discussion on this issue and if they do not get any response from the government, then the members will give up their profession on November 9 or November 10. Meanwhile, a meeting is called for in this regard at Kaveri, residence of chief minister, at 10 am on November 2.

Speaking at the press conference that was organized at the office of the association, Dr H N Ravindra, president, state unit of Indian Medical Association said, "we have made several appeals to the government to abolish certain points in the proposed amendment that is to be made to KPME of 2017. However, the government is not responding to the same. The disasters, the points in question may cause, is already upheld by the committee led by retired judge Vikram Sen. It is condemnable that the government is going ahead with the amendments in spite of the report of the committee."

kpme act is draconian. the proposed amendments are still dangerous.

its impossible to run a hospital with present charging pattern & rules.

the rules are ambiguous & it can be interpreted in any way !!

one of you please visit kpme website & see.. its meaningless rules

for example even for psychiatry consultation room , you need to get waste management certificate !!

by quoting the rules the government doctors & clerks of the government sanctioning authorities ask for bribe & harass the private clinics & small nursing homes.

all rules are created to harass the private doctors & leading to corruption.

only when you plan to start a hospital or clinic you will understand.

by making more rules, we are killing small hospiatls & encouraging big corporate hospitals.

finally the public have no choice, either go to substandard government hospital or money sucking corporate hospitals.

just to create public sympathy during election, government is making rules.. believe me by this doctors will practice more defensive medicine in future. They will not take any risk in treating. just do more tests & refer... which is already happening.

majority of the simple cases also, nobody is willing to treat ... who is suffering. of course common man !!

ambarish, rajanikanth, chief ministers son all went to singapore for treatment !!

even minister ramesh kumar can go !!

all election drama... but this kills the enthusiasm of genuine doctors..

that is why many merit student doctors wont practice in in India.

one simple question to Minister Ramesh kumar ___ why cant you develop the government hospital to such an extent, so that nobody will go to private hospitals ??? beacuse of the failure of successive ministers, these problems have propped up!!

"ETTIGE JWARA, EMMEGE BARA" -- TOTAL WRONG PLANS. just create a mess in whole system.

agree that charges to be told in advance... but why regulating the unnecessary issues ? why to give power to corrupt officials to handle the cause ?

Some thing the Government Always Hides.
1)No Politician has been criminally convicted yet.
    2) The Health Minister calls doctors worse than pick pockets ..If thats true what are politicians rapists or plunderers.
    3) Even after 50 years government hospitals are impoverished.
4)The government still cannot provide free treatment to all citizens.
5)The Money spent in a year for health is just 4000 crores whereas the annual budget for vehicle procurement for MLAs is 200 crores every year.
    6) The Fees for stamp duty is hiked every year but expects doctors to charge 50Rs.
7)A hair cut costs 60 Rs now.
    8) Every minister gets treatment at private hospitals but wants people to go to govrnment hospital

Sir, during your holidays please visit private hospitals (Fr. Mullers, KMC, Unity etc) during morning hours. You will understand numbers of poor patients waiting in queue for registration and visits. Please note that outpatient service is free in hospitals like Fr. Mullers. Those who are holding hospital health cards even re visit charges are free. Most of the patients coming here for outpatient are poor.
