Udupi: Youth jumps into Swarna river as part of 'challenge', dies

Udupi, Oct 31: A youth died after jumping into Swarna river at Perampalli here, apparently as part of a 'challenge' posed among friends.

The deceased has been identified as Sadique, a resident of Santhekatte.

It is learnt that on the evening of Monday October 30, a group of six friends including Sadique had gone to the railway bridge across the Swarna river at Perampalli. The friends used to often sit on the bridge and chat.

As per sources, on Monday evening, the friends were talking, drinking and smoking, when they came up with a challenge to jump into the river. Sadique was the first to accept the challenge, and even as the others were talking, he suddenly took the plunge. It is said that his friends warned him that he should jump only if he knew to swim, and he told them that he did.

Sadique went missing soon after he jumped. Sean Mathew, who was one among the friends' group, jumped after Sadique to rescue him. He too struggled in the water, but fortunately, was rescued by a local fisherman and brought ashore.

The police and locals who arrived at the spot searched for Sadique, but to no avail. On Tuesday October 31, his body was found.

Sadique was a building contractor by profession and ran other small businesses too. He leaves behind his wife and two young children.

Manipal police have registered a case.

Throughout the World Over 3.5 Million Deaths are recorded in a year only due Consumption of Alcohol. Some die due to illness, some die and kill or abuse other family members, some due to accidents and some due to foolishness. All are due to the Evil affects of Consumption of Alcohol. proverbs says 23;29 Who has woe? Who has sorrow?
Who has strife? Who has complaints?
Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes?
30 Those who linger over wine,
who go to sample bowls of mixed wine.
31 Do not gaze at wine when it is red,
when it sparkles in the cup,
    when it goes down smoothly!
32 In the end it bites like a snake
    and poisons like a viper.
33 Your eyes will see strange sights,
and your mind will imagine confusing things.
34 You will be like one sleeping on the high seas,
lying on top of the rigging.
35 “They hit me,” you will say, “but I’m not hurt!
They beat me, but I don’t feel it!
    When will I wake up
so I can find another drink?”

When you have a beautiful family, why to do stupid things which will destroy your kids & family life!!!

The extra courage you get after drinking should be used only for things like dancing, talking nonsense things..etc

One bad moment of time & you are gone!!! RIP
