Bidar, Oct 30: "The union government is waging a war against deep-rooted corruption in the country. When people were going through untold miseries on account of floods there, Congress legislators from that state were spending time at Bengaluru with fun and frolic," Prime Minister (PM), Narendra Modi, remarked.
He was addressing a convention of BJP organized in the city on Sunday October 29. "Even as Congress MLAs from Gujarat were spending time in luxury here, income tax raid happened on the residence of a minister from Karnataka. During this raid, large amount cash was recovered," he pointed out, without naming energy minister, D K Shivakumar.

"Those who were plundering the wealth of the nation are facing untold miseries on account of the decision to demonetise currency notes. A large number of Benami companies which were in existence and found to be conducting business are being unearthed after the demonetisation process. About three lac such companies have been closed down. Dealings of 5,000 more such companies are being closely scrutinized, and it was found that these companies indulged in conducting Benami transactions worth Rs 4,000 crore. I will continue my tirade against corrupt people involved with black money," he announced.
Modi said that the people have openly welcomed the decisionw to demonetise currency notes and introduce GST regime. He added that none of the businessmen have opposed GST and that a number of suggestions for improvements are being received because of certain problems which have surfaced in the system. He said he openly welcomes such advice.
