Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady (SP)

Beltangady, Oct 28: All preparations connected with the visit of Prime Minister (PM), Narendra Modi, to the taluk have been completed and enthusiasm and curiosity is evident everywhere.

In connection with the arrival of the PM to Ujire Ratnavarma stadium at 11.45 am on Sunday October 29, mock drill was conducted on Saturday. Welcome signs adorn both sides of the road from Dharmasthala to Ujire which the PM will take to reach Ujire. A spacious, elevated dais has been built so that the large crowd does not face problem in witnessing the proceedings and seeing the PM and other dignitaries on the dais.

Stalls have been set up by Sri Kshetra Dharmastala Siri village industries institute and Vijaya Bank, both of which which the PM is expected to visit. The entire stadium has been filled with chairs for the comfort of the crowd. Food arrangement has been made near Janardhana Swamy temple for people involved with the organization of this programme. Sri Kshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) executive director, Dr L H Manjunath, confirmed that all arrangements and systems have been in place in connection with the PM's visit.

Narendra Modi will be initiating a scheme under which all the self help groups in the state functioning under SKDRDP will be encouraged to conduct all transactions through cashless mode by putting them through app. In this respect, SKDRDP will be entering into an agreement with State Bank of India, which will be signed in the presence of the PM. It is hoped that this will help the weaker sections of the society in the state to route all their transactions effectively through the banks, which has been among the dreams of the PM.

In addition, the PM will be distributing RuPay cards to 12 lac self help group members under DKDRDP who have opened accounts under Jan Dhan scheme, with the participation of several banks. The PM will also inaugurate the campaign to take a vow to protect mother earth and conserve it for future generations as conceptualized by Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari, Dr Veerendra Heggade. Union minister for chemicals and fertilizers and parliamentary affairs, Ananth Kumar, as well as statics and programme implementaton minister, D V Sadananda Gowda, state forest and Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai, MPs, B S Yeddyurappa and Nalin Kumar Kateel, and local MLA, K Vasant Bangera, will take part in the programme.

Fifth meeting

For Dr Veerendra Heggade, this will be his fifth meeting with the PM as he had earlier met Modi at a function where he received Padma Vibhushan civilian award, international Yoga Day celebration at New Delhi, Yoga programme held at Bengaluru and also at the PM's office when a delegation had met the PM seeking recognition for Tulu language and including it under the eighth schedule of the constitution.

Vehicular traffic restriction

District superintendent of police, Sudheer Kumar Reddy, said that vehicular traffic will not be permitted from 9 am to afternoon on the road between Ujire and Dharmasthala on Sunday. However, based on exigencies of the case, ambulances and fire tenders have been exempted from this restriction, he explained.

Inspection

Dr D Veerendra Heggade inspected final stages of preparations at Ujire and Dharmasthala on Saturday. Dr Veerendra Heggade stated that benefits of opening Jan Dhan accounts had not been made available to many people because of lethargy on the part of the people and banks. He said that under an initiative undertaken by SKDRDP, 12 lac new Jan Dhan accounts have been opened, duly adding that he would be announcing about opening of 40 lac more such accounts on Sunday. He said that mode in which the concept of digital India concept under which self help group members would be enabled to directly operate their bank accounts will be unveiled on Sunday.

I feel the PM should be working as regards the Gujarath elections. There are rumours that BJP is not doing well in Gujarath. Hence it my opinion that he may visit Gujarath and improve the partys position there. Why waste time visiting SOuth Kanara where the BJP is doing well. Instead if the PM concentrate and make speeches in Gujarath now it would be better for BJP. Though I am not a hard core BJP fan I like Modis developmental ideas is a symphathesier with BJP

I respect our prime minister's chief ministers and elected representatives for the sheer amount if work they do .It is hard work they have to continuously travel interact with the people almost 28 hours a day. Specially our PM is hard worker who sleeps less than 6 hours a day ., India before independence was ruled by Britishers or monarchies where there was huge difference between kings and citizens .Kings were leading a life with pomp and luxury whereas their subjects were left with miserable life style and with abject poverty .Today after independence the party which was in power almost 6 decades carried on the legacies of the monarchy by promoting VIP culture .In the name of security crores of tax payers money is spent . A vip s visit may cost Exchequer to the tune of 50 to 100 crores directly of course the indirect cost of clamping down the usual working may cost much more .Tn present world where information technology is so advanced the inauguration program can be done through vide conferences and the amount money wasted would be spent for productive purpose
