Mangaluru Oct 27: Mangaluru North MLA Mohiuddin Bava came down on former minister Krishna J Palemar for his comments over proposed fish market complex at Suratkal and said that the project will be a reality
Bava was addressing the media here on Friday, October 27.
“Krishna J Palemar stated during an interview in Daijiworld 24x7 that it is impossible to construct new fish market complex with an estimated budget of Rs 120 crore and impossible to generate even Rs 50 crore just for Suratkal market and said that I am a liar. Palemar is unnecessarily commenting on this issue and creating confusion among people of Suratkal. Today I have shown him that he is wrong by sanctioning Rs 61 crore from the government and the remaining money will sanctioned from Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) under KUIDFC fund. The new fish market will definitely come up at Suratkal.
"Now the temporary market worth Rs 3 crore will come up soon with 240 shops in it. Once the new market is opened, shops will be shifted and the remaining shops will be auctioned. The temporary market will have good facilities for the shopkeepers,” he added.
“Nearly Rs 300 crore worth development works including road development, Rs 35 crore worth underground drainage, Suratkal zonal office and RTO office are being done. Foundation stone will be laid by chief minister Siddaramaiah for all these including for new fish market complex worth Rs 120 crore,” he said.
District Congress president Harish Kumar, MCC chief whip Shashidhar Hegde, former mayor Harinath, corporator Pratibha Kulai and others were present.
