Raichur: Actress Pooja Gandhi made to wait whole day for coming late to court

Daijiworld Media Network - Raichur (MS)

Raichur, Oct 27: Pooja Gandhi, renowned Kannada actress, was shown that celebrity status will not help when it comes to attending a court hearing. The actor was made to wait for more than 6 hours without even permitting her to go for lunch.

Pooja came late to attend the hearing on a FIR that was filed against her over the alleged violation of the model code of conduct as she had contested the legislative assembly election from Raichur on the BSR Congress ticket in 2013. A non-bailable warrant against her was issued by the Judicial Magistrate First Class-2 (JMFC), Poornima Yadav, in the first week of August after she failed to appear for five hearings.

Though the actor was picked up from Bengaluru by the Raichur police, she did not make it on time to the court for the hearing. This exasperated the judge, who not only made her wait from 11am to 5.30 pm but also granted bail only on a bond of Rs.50000 and two sureties.

In addition, the judge strictly ordered the actor to attend all the future hearings without fail. As per the statement given by her lawyer, Nagaraja Naik, the next hearing on this case will be on November 3. So far Pooja has attended eight court hearings since the case was registered.

The actor was not available for comments to the media who were eagerly waiting at the court the whole day.

Earlier in an issue pertaining to the same case, a constable was reprimanded by the judge for lying to the court that the actor was "not available", when he was sent to Bengaluru to serve the summons to the actor. The constable was caught lying as he posted his selfie with the actor on Facebook.

She too is a citizen of this country India. She should not think she has descended from seventh heaven. Waiting in courts and Govt. offices is our duty. The media should not make a hype about all this.

Not a surprising decision by the court, after all court is a temple of justice, not a studio to which she can go at her will.

May be a time to teach all these celebrities that they are not above the law. Because some where we only made them to feel they are super human beings from heaven. So once a while such moves will make them realize NOBODY IS ABOVE THE LAW.

Raichur: Actress Pooja Gandhi made to wait whole day for coming late to court. In this case, the actress Pooja has attended eight court hearings since the case was registered. Why still no judegement. Why the Court takes such long time to pass judgement.

Court should be also held accountable for the delay in passing judgement.

Judgment is not golibaje to pack in an old newspaper and give away.

It needs time in our country where people do not abide by the rules and do not support the lawmakers. Sometimes people even destroy evidences.

    People,

    Correct decision by court....

However courts should not summon accused unnecessarily and give next date routinely...Indian courts do this dozens of times...every time...without any valid reasons...just for heck of it...

In US accused is summoned only if judge/Prosecutor/Defense Counsel have time to record evidence....no accused is called and given next next date without a hearing...

I have observed judicial proceeding of many countries...it pains me to say...we come almost last!!!...if not last itself...

    ...JH...

Most Indian judges think they can do whatever they want in the name of justice. They do not value the time of others. Senior Lawyers many a times find it difficult to cope with the fancies of these Judges . For honest and sincere people passing through the Indian judicial process itself is a curse.
