Kasargod, Oct 25: In a tragic incident, a post-graduate student died after she was thrown out from a crowded bus at Chedikana here on Wednesday, October 25.
The deceased has been identified as Ushalatha, a resident of Chedikana near Nekraje. She was a post-graduate student at Badiadka Cooperative College.
She had got into the bus to Perla from Kasargod. As the bus was crowded, she was standing near the front door of the bus. The bus was about to reach the next stop, when its door opened after the strap of her handbag got entangled on its latch and she fell out from the bus.
Her body came under the rear wheel of the bus seriously injuring her. Though the bus employees and the locals rushed her to Kasargod hospital, she succumbed to her injuries on the way.
The body was handed over to her relatives after post-mortem at Kasargod general hospital.
A case has been registered at Badiadka police against the bus driver. The bus was also taken into custody.
Ushalatha's wedding was scheduled to be held in March 2018.
