Mangaluru: Differences in Congress out in open as Ivan, Abhaychandra lock horns during CM visit

Mangaluru, Oct 22: The fissure within the district Congress was out in the open during the visit of chief minister Siddaramaiah at Mangaluru airport here on Sunday October 22.

Two groups, each led by Congress MLC Ivan D'Souza and MLA Abhaychandra Jain had arrived at the airport to welcome the CM. Each group remained separate holding placards, awaiting the CM's arrival.

When the CM finally arrived after some delay, the Ivan D'Souza and Abhaychandra Jain jostled with each other to get close to Siddaramaiah. Abhaychandra Jain was caught on camera elbowing Ivan and blocking his way.

Sources also said that Ivan and Abhaychandra engaged in a brief but heated exchange of words, during which the latter allegedly spoke rashly.

Another key Congressman involved was Mithun Rai, who was with Jain. The video shows that just as Mithun was approaching the CM, Ivan too began to move forward, but Jain blocked his way by shoving him back.

It may be noted that Ivan has been touted as a possible candidate from Moodbidri in the next Assembly elections. Mithun Rai is also said to be in the race for the ticket and reportedly is backed by Jain.

It is very interesting to watch Guru and Shishya are competing each other to get MLA seat from Moodabidri. Now, why present MLA is supporting the Shishya is not known. But one thing is clear that three of them have tasted blood (Power), hence they are dangerous to their own Political Party.

One of the eye witness who was in airport to pick a relative was telling the ambience was so bad... they were like kids pushing each other... many people fell down... coming on other's foots.... siddu and other security folks also pushing these local leaders like Mithun Rai and all.... like they are nothing... OMG. shame

Although it is relevant on the national level, but DK congress should lead with example by clearly identifying Ivan D'Souza as its leader and everyone else, regardless of their age and clout should fall behind in full support. At the moment, the various electoral groups on religious and caste lines seems to be vouching for dominance hoping to emerge as leader with unpleasant public duals. Emergence of a younger leader should be bottom-up and not to be dictated from Bangalore or Delhi. They could bless it, but the selection should be bottom-up.

Congress at one time, had many MLAs and ministers in one ministry from undivided DK. The current Congress Govt in Vidhana Sabha lacks the same strength as in the past.

It's a lesson for younger generation, World is not always straight & sweet as you see! especially in politics. Every one plays as per their individual interest. One has to fight not only the opposition but his/her your own political party!

No one is a permanent friend nor enemy in politics and don''t be surprised if you see Abay & Ivan exchanging sweets, hugging each other with broad smile!

For a normal person, the push of his own party CM would made him mad, walk back home & finish a bottle of liquor & change the political party next morning! but being a real politician one has to drink the bitter experience, gather courage & show the brave face with new strategy!

Ivan is capable leader to get party ticket, Mithun is nothing in front of Ivan.Ivan done lots of work for the party and people. Why Mr Jain is making confusion now, few months ago he was with Ivan and now he changed his support to Mithun. Mr Jain was win the elections because of Janata party devide,not from his capacity. Amaranth Shetty was a best leader for that region,unfortunately because of party politics people decided to vote Mr Jain. Now he trying to spoil party emage and want to become hero,as same thing happened in Manglore MP seat by Mr JP. Our people should think before they vote because it's their future.

1. He had actively pursued issue about MIA .
2. By choosing Ivan we would end one of the bus lobbies in the area.

Non of them will get the ticket to contest from Moodabidri. Ivan is better candidate than Mithun Rai as Rai may not get Christian community votes who form a sizable number in that constituency and also Mithun Rai doesn't have a good reputation. Abayachandra was put in there by a reputed wealthy NRI and Moily is his right hand man. So my assumption is that the seat will go to Moily's son.

Pls note Abayachnadra Jain is a smart Cat. He knows that he will not win this time hence he is beating round the bush. Ivan has got stuck because he will not get a seat in Mangalore North or South and he thinks he will win Moodabidri constituency easily. Pls note Bantwala and Moodabidri were Congress strongholds. Now the situation has changed after some big issues in Moodabidri and people are waiting to throw Congress out of Moodabidri Constiteuncy. Abayachnadra Jain didn't handle the last murder which happened in a wise way. This made the people very angry and it is open people are talking that they will not vote for congress. Anyhow many might not accept this, They will think I'm a BJP supporter etc. Pls note I'm neither a BJP nor Congress supporter nor affiliated to any religious entities. I want an able MLA who can think positive., approachable and does overall development for their respective constituencies. Ivan is an outsider and if Congress wants to put a strong candidate they have to do ground work else they will lose heavily.

Regarding Moodbidri MLA seat... Ivan should not ask for ticket as his chances of winning are very thin in Moodbidri.

Since Abhayachandra had promised voters during his last election campaign (his 3rd attempt) that 'I will make way to Young candidate in next election'. he should bat for Mithun, who has good chance of winning.
