Mumbai, Oct 10 (IANS): The key Indian equity indices were on Tuesday afternoon trading high following global positive cues from Asian markets.
The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) was trading at 101.88 points, or 0.32 per cent higher, during the afternoon session.
The wider 51-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading higher at 10,019.55 points -- up 30.80 points or 0.31 per cent.
The Sensex of the BSE, which opened at 31,910.82 points, was trading at 31,948.77 points (at 1.20 p.m.), higher by 101.88 points or 0.32 per cent from the previous day's close at 31,846.89 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 31,994.77 points and a low of 31,898.20 points in the trade so far.
"The market made a strong start on Tuesday as the Sensex surged 111 points, mainly driven by domestic investors and aided by positive Asian shares. Moreover, the broader NSE Nifty reclaimed the key 10,000-level. Sectoral indices such as capital goods, metal, IT and healthcare moved in the positive zone," said Dhruv Desai, Director and Chief Operating Officer of Tradebulls.
