Mangalore, Jun 10 : Intensified rains forced boats to rush back to the shores and the intensified sea erosion gave tense moments to the sealine dwellers in Ullal. Three houses near Pavoor in Dakshina Kannada collapsed on Monday, injuring two children. Artificial flood was noticed at the low lying areas of Attavar. Two more houses also suffered partial damage there.

Areas where construction activities are going on like the area near Mallya and Lobo Compound near Attavar in the city, have been experiencing artificial floods due to improper planning and blockage of drains. Sea erosion continues unabated in Mukkacheri, Mogaveerpatna, Kotepura etc., in Ullal.  A house owned by Jainabi in Manipur in Udupi taluk also was damaged due to rains.

A portion of the hillock near Kuloor church, which has been dug up in connection with the national highway widening work, experienced landslide on Monday. The locals are apprehensive of further landslides in the region and the possibility of danger it might pose to the ancient church located here.

In Kundapur taluk, overflowing Souparnika river has created a panicky situation in villages like Chikalli, Padukone, Herikudru, Badakere etc., where low lying areas have been inundated.  Sea erosion was noticed in Hosahithlu and Gangebail in Byndoor near the national highway on Monday. Houses and other buildings in these villages lining the sea are facing grave threat because of intensified sea erosion.
