Mumbai, Jun 9: BJP President Rajnath Singh on Sunday blamed "faulty" policies of the UPA Government for rising inflation and expressed confidence that the party-led NDA would come to power in the next Lok Sabha election.
"When NDA was in power the rate of development was more than the rate of inflation. Now, it is the other way round and Union Finance Minister is giving lame excuses for the situation," he said during a book release function here.
Inflation is hovering at a 45-month high of 8.2 per cent.
The BJP chief said the Vajpayee Government did not succumb to pressure from the US over the nuclear tests and went ahead with them in May 1998.
On the other hand, Singh alleged, the Narasimha Rao Government, which was in power from 1991-96, had given into pressure from Washington and did not carry out the nuclear test.
