Udupi, Sep 28: Karnataka state alcohol consumption control committee president H C Rudrappa on Wednesday September 27, organized a press conference in the office of deputy commissioner to create awareness about the ill effect of consumption of alcohol.
He said that the group works like hospitals are creating awareness among people on harm caused by consumption of alcohol and drugs and about their control. “We stress on their control. The group has held 1,124 programmes on awareness in the state.”
“Meanwhile all the departments in the state should join hands with the committee to help people kick out the habits. Programmes should be held on village levels. The committee conducts programmes in media to give information on social and personal harm these vices cause. The committee will extend all the cooperation for the camps held at Dharmasthala in this connection.”
He explained about the award for restraint held back for several years presented in Mysuru recently. He suggested that the district administration should take initiative regarding the health of people.
Udupi deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis, panchayat chief executive Shivananda Kapashi, district officer of excise K B Merunandan and others were present.
