Kasargod, Sep 27: Owner of a supermarket in Abu Dhabi, Ansar, had bought a Mercedes Benz car costing Rs 60 lac, eight months back. Ansar, a resident of Chengala Taivalappu here, had also secured the registration number of his liking by paying a hefty sum. Later, due to his failure to register the car on time, he also paid a fine of eight lac rupees.
The car owner had taken part in the auction process held by the motor vehicles department and obtained No KL14 V1 for his car by paying Rs 1.05 lac four months back. However, he had not registered the car even after a number was allotted, for reasons best known to him.
A team led by police circle inspector here, Abdul Raheem, during the checking of vehicles, found that the car was being taken around without registration. The vehicle was taken into custody. Ansar had to pay the fine of eight lac rupees to get his vehicle released.
