Udupi, Jun 6: BJP activists staged protest against Congress-led UPA government for hiking the petroleum prices here on Thursday June 5.
Speaking on the occasion, Kaup constituency BJP president Ravindra Shetty said that the Congress party is claiming that it is saviour of farmers and poor people of the country. But it has cheated the commoners by hiking the petroleum products. Congress will have to face strong protest from BJP if it fails to control the prices of essential commodities, he warned.
Later the protestors took out a rally from Kaup town to revenue inspector’s office and submitted memorandum to the President, through the revenue inspector Satyanand Shetty.
District BJP vice-president Katapady Shankar Poojary, taluk panchayat members Jagadeesh Acharya, Arun Shetty Padur, Jayanti Indushekhar, BJP leaders Giridhar Prabhu, Sheela K Shetty, Vijay Karkera and others took part in the protest.
