Kundapur, Sep 21: Sabladi K Shetty Memorial Charitable Trust distributed scholarships to students for higher studies, monetary help for the sick and award for agriculture in a programme held at S S Hegde hall of Bantara Yane Nadavara building complex here on September 20.
Former MLA A G Kodgi presided over the programme.
Addressing the gathering he said, “Education sector should be given importance. Several changes are required in the sector. The work of trust donating scholarships, presenting award after identifying good farmers, and cash help to those who are suffering from sickness is commendable,” he said.
Bhandarkar's college principal Dr N P Narayan Shetty said that providing money for education is the work that pleases the almighty. “Repaying the debt to society like this is praiseworthy. Students who have received scholarships should make great achievements in life and reach a stage of helping at least ten students. Students of KAS and IPS are decreasing. More students should opt for those courses,” he said.
Former president of Dakshina Kannada Milk Producers Federation Vitala Shetty Shedikodlu, and former MLA B Appanna Hegde conveyed their wishes. A Ananda Shetty Sabladi, president of the trust was present.
Progressive farmer Chandrashekar Shetty Bijri was presented Sabladi Sheenappa Shetty Agriculture Award. Students of higher education from Vandse were awarded scholarships. The sick were handed over cash. Father of Chinmayi who secured fourth place in the state in SSLC examination was felicitated on his behalf.
Trust convener N Manjayya welcomed and delivered the keynote address. Trust member Ashok Kumar Mada introduced the awardees. Trust member N Narayana Shetty Sabladi delivered vote of thanks. Subrahmanya Padukone compered the programme.
