Moodbidri, Sep 21: A case stands registered against the parents of a girl who was a minor at the time of her marriage, groom and parents of the man who married her, under The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act. The incident in which an underage girl was married off had come to the knowledge of the concerned with inordinate delay.

The said child marriage was performed on August 20. After gathering information on it, the child development project officer of Mangaluru (rural) zone had filed a complaint against the parents of the girl, groom, who has been identified as Muhammed Imran and his parents, under the said act. Accordingly, first information report stands filed at the police station here under sections 9, 10, and 11 of the act.

Deputy director of women and child welfare department, said that three child marriage cases have been registered in Dakshina Kannada district during the year 2017-18.
