Bantwal: Seeking action against minister's building, BJP councillors hold protest

Bantwal, Sep 21: Some opposition BJP councillors of the town municipal council held flash protest opposite municipal council office here on Wednesday September 20. The protest was withdrawn after tahsildar, Purandar Hegde, and chief officer, Rekha Shetty, held discussions with the protester, they withdrew the same at around 8 pm.

After a written complaint was filed with the municipal council seeking legal action against a building standing in the town which allegedly belongs to minister, B Ramanath Rai, the chief officer had said that legal action would be initiated within a month, at the general session of the municipal council held on September 4. When the copy of the minutes of the meeting was obtained, the opposition members observed that this matter had been left out. Objecting to this wrong, BJP members, A Govind Prabhu, B Devadas Shetty, Suguna Kini and Bhaskar Tailor held protest.

The protesters were given assurance that the minutes would be modified before September 21 and copy of the revised minutes after including the above issue would be provided. The protesters warned that they would resume the protest if this promise is not kept.
