Mangaluru: Three bikes skid as oil leaks from drainage at Balmatta

Mangaluru, Sep 18: Oil was seen emanating from the manhole at Balmatta here on Monday September 18, evoking curiosity among passers-by.

The oil had spilled over a portion of the road, causing disruption of traffic.

At least three bikes skidded and one rider sustained minor bruises.

The traffic police arrived at the spot and diverted the vehicles.

Police sources said that the drainage might have overflown due to disposal of waste from nearby hotels which are connected to the drainage system.

Source however said that the leakage was left unattended to for long time.
