Mangaluru, Sep 15: The NSS unit of Mangalore Marine College and Technology held a programme in a slushy field called ‘Samskruthi Sambhrama’.
The programme was presided over by the principal of the college Dr Rajkiran Ballal. He said, “Playing native games in slushy water is good for health which gives the advantages of mud therapy.”
HOD of Marine department Amalraj Rodrigus, HOD of Civil department Dr Krishna raj, NSS coordinators Vishwanath Nayak and Raghavendra Kudva, administrative officer Laxmeesh Bhat, staff and students of various departments were present.
The programme was conducted to show the native lifestyle and culture to students coming to college from various parts of the country. Different rural games like tug of war, running race kabaddi and valley ball were played in the slushy field. Native food ‘ganji-chutney’ and pickle were provided to students for lunch. Students enjoyed the day and the location which is on the bank of Phalguni River to full extent.
