Sullia, Sep 15: A man died while two others suffered injuries on Thursday September 14 afternoon in an accident between a KSRTC bus and jeep which happened at Talur near Mavinakatte on Jalsoor-Subrahmanya state highway.
The deceased happened to be Shashidhar (35) from Tipanur House near Halemajalu, Nalkur village.
In this acident, jeep driver, Rohitashwa Tuppata (32), suffered serious injuries to his head, ribs and legs. His relative, Nitin (25) from Shishila was injured in his head, hand and face. Driver's son, Mokshit (3) luckily escaped unhurt.
Shashidhar, working for an electrical contractor from Hariharapallathadka, was returning to his place after buying some electrical goods form the town when a KSRTC bus coming toward the town from Subrhamanya hit the jeep at the road bend on the steep road near Talur. It is said that the bus was moving at considerable speed in an effort to overtake a service van at the time.
Because of the force of the accident, Shashidhar got tossed onto an abandoned stone quarry beside the road and sustained grievous injuries to his head. His left hand got severed and the entire body had turned bloody. As a result of the accident, traffic on the road had to be suspended for about an hour. Locals shifted the injured to a hospital here.
Subrahmanya station police sub-inspector arrived on the spot and registered a case against bus driver, Shekhar.
