Bantwal, Sep 14: Thieves who entered a home at B C Road here on Wednesday September 13, succeeded in decamping with cash and gold ornaments worth lacs of rupees. The theft happened somewhere between noon and evening.
Thieves entered the house of a document writer named K P Bannintaya located by the side of the survey office behind the bus stand at B C Road when there was no one at home. They broke open the lock of the front door and gained entry into the house between 2.30 and 3.30 pm.
The thieves then broke open three cupboards in the bedroom and took away 15 sovereigns of gold ornaments, a pair of diamond earlobes and Rs 40,000 in cash. They then jumped over the compound wall and escaped through the bus stand.
A woman living in the vicinity noticed that strangers had jumped over the compound wall of Bannintya's house. She informed the document writer who works in the nearby office. Town police station was informed of the theft. Sniffer dogs and finger print experts were summoned. A case stands registered in the town police station and investigation has been taken up.
