MANGALORE, Jun 1: Deputy Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao has issued an order diverting the vehicles from the national highway 17 to facilitate the road work being carried out on the stretch between Surathkal and Nanthur junction.
The order will be effective from June 2 till 12.
The Udupi-bound heavy vehicles from Mangalore have to move via Kavoor, Bajpe, Kateel, Kinnigoli and Mulky. Heavy vehicles coming from Udupi have to take the same route in the reverse order. The heavy vehicles include public express or service buses, gas tankers, or those transporting petrol/diesel/tar/kerosene tankers.
The Surathkal or Mulky-bound private buses, light motor vehicles have to take the route which passes through Baikampady, Honnakatte Junction, Kklaigudde-Kana junction, Ganeshpura, Katipalla, Padupadavu-Madya Junction and Manchur. Same route in the reverse order should be followed by buses and light motor vehicles coming to Mangalore.
Project director of National Highways Authority of India in Mangalore, P.A. Gawasane, had urged the district administration to issue this order to complete the pending road work in view of the approaching monsoon season. The order follows a report from Police Inspector from Surathkal in this regard.
