Huawei launches 'WATCH 2' in 3 variants in India

New Delhi, Sep 13 (IANS): Huawei on Wednesday launched the next generation "WATCH 2" in India at a starting price of Rs 20,999.

The new smartwatch has been introduced in three variants -- Sports (Bluetooth), Classic (Bluetooth), and Sports (4G) -- and would retail only in Black colour variant.

The three variants have been priced at Rs 20,999, Rs 25,999, and Rs 29,999, respectively.

"The functionality of watches has grown by leaps and bounds, and thus we see growing interest in the market for timepieces that do much more than just tell time," said P. Sanjeev, Vice President, Sales, Huawei Consumer Business Group, in a statement.

"The Huawei 'WATCH 2' provides users more connectivity options, Android Wear 2.0 encased in stunning new looks. With customer and market insights, the newly launched 'WATCH 2' is focused on creating a standalone experience for consumers."

Introduced earlier this year at Mobile World Congress, the smartwatch inherits the classic design of the original Huawei "WATCH" with improvements in every category to better empower users' spirit of exploration, the company said in a statement.

The next-gen smartwatch is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, runs the Android Wear 2.0 platform and comes with built-in GPS and a heart rate detection system as well.

The device also features various sensors that allow the wearable to gather data on user's activity, including distance, speed, steps, heart rate, heart rate range, calories, gait, route, and more.
